Janice Jean Eldredge ~ May 11, 1937 - May 26, 2019 ~

Janice J. Eldredge of Rhinelander went to be with the Lord May 26, 2019. She was born in Irma, on a small family dairy farm. After completing high school she went on to graduate from Marshfield Medical School of Nursing earning her RN Degree. In 1958 Jan married the love of her life John Eldredge in Wausau where they raised their family and she worked for many years in the nursing profession.

In her 30s Jan found a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gave her eternal life, joy, and purpose. As she served her family, she also lived out a calling to serve the elderly and their families in geriatric care. An active member at Immanuel Baptist church in Wausau, Jan loved studying the Word of God and was often involved in many Precept Bible Study classes. She spent many of her summers as a volunteer camp nurse at Fort Wilderness in McNaughton where her daughters experienced life-transforming summers. Through the years she and John hosted scores of people with generous hospitality and thousands of grilled burgers. Her love of the Northwoods brought her and John to continue their work in Eldercare in Rhinelander. Here in the "Northwoods" they would regularly share their love for fly-fishing with each other, their kids, and grandkids. As a gifted watercolor artist Jan loved making numerous cards and paintings for those in need and loved ones. She also shared this love with her weekly watercolor class as she taught from home.

Of her final words when the doctor told her to think positive thoughts, her response was "I have heaven waiting." Jan would want all who are reading this to know this same hope as promised in John 3:16. For her, to live was Christ, and to die was gain. She is preceded in death by her parents Clarence & Vi Johnson. Jan is survived by her husband John Eldredge, daughters Carole Eldredge, Mary & (Sid) Thornton and Chrissy & (Brad) Hopkins. She is also survived by her dearly loved grandsons Tim Thornton & (Fiancé Annie Clements), Micah & (Whitney) Thornton and her brother Ronnie & (Kay) Johnson of Marinette and lastly a herd of standard poodles.

A private family memorial is being planned. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored for donations to be made to Fort Wilderness Ministries PO Box 715 McNaughton WI, 54543 (715-277-2587) in Jan's memory.
