On May 19, the Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation, in conjunction with Rhinelander High School, hosted the annual Rhinelander Community Scholarship Awards in the John & Dori Brown Performing Arts Center at RHS. This year, 184 scholarships totaling $232,050, plus one fully paid tuition for four years at a Wisconsin state-operated university, were distributed to 76 RHS seniors. These scholarships were generously provided by dozens of local donors, including RASF itself, and were provided to help students with a wide variety of postsecondary plans to achieve their goals after high school, the group announced in a press release.

The Rhinelander Community Scholarship Awards was attended by recipients, donors, families, community members, RHS staff and members of the RASF governing board. Board members and members of the RHS Key Club helped direct people and distributed programs prior to the event. Over the course of the two-hour ceremony, local family memorials, class reunions and businesses charitably contributed to help send students to post-secondary schooling after graduation, some helping finance full ride scholarships. Following the ceremony, a reception was held, with treats provided and served by the RHS ProStart class.

The Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was established in 1991. The volunteer board facilitates hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating Rhinelander High School seniors annually. RASF also manages a portfolio of more than a million dollars to give to graduating seniors. Since 1991, RASF itself has provided an additional $349,250 to 420 graduating seniors, many of whom may not get scholarship support from other sources. Fundraising is the primary source for these additional funds. If you have an interest in establishing a scholarship, call the Rhinelander High School Student Services office at 715-365-9517. For more information about RASF, contact the board on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram (Username: Rasfhodags), or email [email protected].
