Fall flag football registration open now

The YMCA of the Northwoods, Hodag Gridiron Club, and Rhinelander Lion's Club are partnering to offer flag football this fall. The organizations want to work together to build the future of Hodag Football. Working together they have pooled their resources to open registration for fall league for boys and girls in entering grades 1-6.

YMCA Youth and Family Director and RHS varsity assistant coach Matt Steingraber wants to strengthen the bond of the football community.

"Working with the Gridiron Club and head coach Aaron Kraemer, it has become evident that we all have the same goal in mind, to build a stronger future of football in Rhinelander," he said. "Flag football is a great way to start learning the game of football with a lower risk of injury at a young age."

The league will run primarily on Saturday mornings this fall starting Aug. 10 and running through Sept. 28. The Y will also offer two skills days in August. The cost of the league is just $20 per player. Rhinelander High School football coaches and players will be at every game to help coach in 2019, but parent/volunteer coaches will be needed for each team.

To register or to express coaching interest, call the Y at 715-362-9622 or visit our website www.ymcaofthenorthwoods.org.
