Bill was born in Rhinelander on Saturday, Nov. 10, 1962, the son of Edward and Pearl (Gauthier) Skubal. From birth, Bill has lived in Rhinelander and in 1981 he graduated from Rhinelander High School. He then attended N.C.T.C. where he earned his degree in Police Science in 1984.
Bill then was a corrections officer for 28 years.
Scooby had served as a volunteer with the Pine Lake Fire Department and had been a member of the Hodag Sportsmen's Club. Bill is a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and a member of the Macdonald - O'Neill Council 2032 Knights of Columbus. Scooby loved hunting, especially deer, turkey and goose hunting, gardening, playing cards, attending concerts at the casino and purchasing flowers for Jackie. He also enjoyed campfires, making firewood, the annual pig roast, attending his daughter, son and grandsons sporting events, coaching youth soccer and his love of animals, especially his cat, Bruce Wayne.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, but what Bill will be truly remembered for is his love of family. When there was a family get-together, he always wanted to be the last to leave.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Pearl; wife, Jackie; children, Jillian Skubal of Wausau, Jebediah Skubal of Rhinelander; grandson Kolton Skubal; six brothers, Robert (Donna) Skubal of Tomahawk, Edward (Jill) Skubal of West Salem, Steven G. (Wilda) Skubal of Tomahawk, Jeffrey (Wanda) Skubal of Rhinelander, Greg (Connie) Skubal of Dorchester, and James (Laura) Skubal of Rhinelander; three sisters Sandra Skubal of Rhinelander, Michele (Michael) Hagen of Edgar and Laura Pospychala of Rhinelander. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Skubal.
The visitation for Bill will be held Saturday, May 25 2019 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church locate at 125 E. King Street, Rhinelander, from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass. Fr. Mike Tupa will officiate.
