She is now resting peacefully with God and rejoined with her father, mother, brother and two sisters: Alton Brooks, Lillian Brooks, Robert (Chick) Brooks, Jacqueline (Brooks) Michalak and Joannie Brooks. We are sure she is telling jokes nonstop and meeting a whole new universe of people to embrace. One of her favorite things was to be in a room full of strangers so that she could get to meet them all. Marilyn was a woman who touched every person that she met with genuine care and made them all smile. She loved Rhinelander and it will always be her home. The Rhinelander Country Club was her second Rhinelander home, where she is golf legend. Her infectious laugh, love for family, life and golf will be missed beyond measure.
Marilyn was born and raised in Rhinelander and married her husband, Delbert Smith, 62 years ago after quite a pursuit. Together they raised three daughters and she greatly enjoyed becoming a mother-in-law to Tom Kupcho and Darin Henkel. She most loved her family and will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Bob Brooks, Jim Michalak, Pam (Brooks) Crossen, Patti-Jo Pingel, and Craig Brooks. She was honored in a memorial service on May 1, 2019 in Green Valley, Ariz. conducted by her own nephew, Craig Brooks. She would have been so incredibly happy. Marilyn was also blessed with three granddaughters, Erin Summers, Kellie Simmer and Kaitlynn Kupcho, and one grandson, Andrew Kupcho. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Jaylynn, Teairra, Harmony, Riley and Cameron.
