Bestselling author Victoria Houston attributes life mistakes to her success as a published mystery writer. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, the public can enjoy her witty presentation "The Three Life Mistakes I've Made That Force Me to Write Fishing Mysteries," part of the Words Worth Hearing series at T.B. Scott Free Library in Merrill.

"Delicious free refreshments from local businesses and beverages from First Street Coffee Station will add to the audience's delight as they listen to Victoria Houston reveal why she has written popular mystery novels," library officials said in a press release. "Victoria Houston is originally from the Northwoods having grown up in Rhinelander. Life's journey took her to other places of the country, but after 30 years, she pleasingly returned to her birthplace where she has now lived for the past 20 years. During her presentation, perhaps she will explain her choice of characters or the Wisconsin setting for the Loon Lake Mystery Series. A number of her titles from the Loon Lake Mystery Series will be available for sale that evening through an arrangement with Janke Book Store in Wausau. You're also welcome to bring along your copies for signing by the accomplished author. Join us on the third floor of the library for an intriguing conversation with Author Victoria Houston."
