Arbor Vitae man charged with sexual assaulting dementia patient at residential facility
According to online court records, Jacob H. Schlosser made his initial appearance March 21 on one count of second-degree sexual assault of a mentally ill victim and one count of second-degree sexual assault in a treatment facility. Each of the Class C felonies carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000 upon conviction.
According to the criminal complaint, Schlosser recently became a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and had been allowed one-on-one contact with patients since March 4.
The complaint alleges that Schlosser told another individual that "he had sexual contact with one of his patients" and that person reported the comment to police.
When a Minocqua police detective and an Oneida County sheriff's deputy interviewed Schlosser, he allegedly admitted to the acts described in the complaint which involve inappropriate touching during a bath. The MPD detective attempted to interview the alleged victim but was unable to get any useful information due to the person's advanced Alzheimer's disease.
Schlosser is free on a $5,000 signature bond, however Judge Patrick O'Melia has suspended his CNA license and ordered that he not perform any CNA work as a condition of bond.
An adjourned initial appearance in this case is scheduled for April 15.
