Guests were able to make cash donations at checkout or purchase non-perishable food items for donation, the retailer explained in a press release. They also had the option to purchase pre-packed bags of food or personal care items. Donation boxes were set up at each Trig's location to collect food and personal hygiene items that were donated.
While most food drives typically take place during the holidays, Trig's wanted to help fill the gap for when those holiday donations start to get low, the release states.
"Trig's and the Stuff-A-Truck food drive collaborates with local communities and service organizations to literally stuff a semi-truck with food and personal hygiene items to stock the shelves in local food pantries at a time of year when donations are greatly needed," the release states.
The ninth Annual Stuff-A-Truck benefited the following organizations:
Eagle River: Three Lakes Christian Food Pantry, Vilas Food Pantry and Headwaters Food Pantry, Inc.
Minocqua: Lakeland Food Pantry & Boulder Junction Food Pantry
Rhinelander: Rhinelander Food Pantry, NATH (Frederick Place homeless shelter), Elcho Food Pantry
Tomahawk: Tomahawk United Methodist Church Food Pantry and Nokomis Food Pantry
Stevens Point: New Hope Community Church Bread of Life Food Pantry and Community Thrift Store of Portage County Food Pantry
Wausau: The Neighbor's Place
Everest Metro: Peyton's Promise.
