Kalmar Community Center activities continue despite roof collapse
S.E.R.V.E. President Suzanne Millies has issued this statement:
"The S.E.R.V.E. Board has been working with the insurance company and contractors to assess the damages and plan for clean-up of the site and preparations to rebuild."
With the help of the community all activities that were held at the Kalmar Community Center site have now been relocated to the following locations, until further notice.
• Badger Bridge will meet Mondays from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at 1st Congregational U.C.C. located at the corner of Division and 1st St., Eagle River. Contact Ed at 715-362-8933 or Bob at 414-758-6411.
• Kalmar Cribbage will meet Mondays at 1 p.m. at the VFW at 418 W. Pine St., Eagle River. Contact Don at 715-337-2265.
• Kalmar Card Party will meet Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5030 Hwy 70 W., Eagle River. Contact Janet at 715-542-3685.
• Northwoods Woodcarvers will meet Wednesdays from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 5001 Cty. Road G, Eagle River. Contact John at 715-479-6093.
• Kalmar Quilters will meet Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Walter E. Olson Memorial Library, 203 N. Main St., Eagle River. Contact Pat at 715-617-2398.
• Sheepshead group contact Don at 715-337-2265.
•AARP Tax Prep will meet at the Eagle River Courthouse, Room C. An appointment is required. To make an appointment please call, 715-479-3727.
The Kalmar Community Center said Winter Bingo is cancelled for this year.
S.E.R.V.E. /Kalmar Island Casino trips will continue as always. For more information on these trips call 715-479-2633 or 715-337-2265.
The Vilas Food Pantry is still in operation at their current site.
"We want to express our thanks to the organizations that have offered space for us during this time," S.E.R.V.E. stated in a press release. "As things progress we will update any information we have available for you. The public is invited to join us for any of the above activities."
