On Tuesday, chef Tom Jordens of CT's Deli in Rhinelander presented his winnings as the champion of the Northwoods River News Pigskin Pick'em Board to a worthy cause - Camp American Legion in Lake Tomahawk.

Jordens, center, is joined by River News sports editor Jeremy Mayo, right, as they present a $500 check to Don Grundy of Camp American Legion - a retreat camp which has served Wisconsin military veterans, current military members and their families since 1925.

"I think the Pigskin Pick(em) was a lot of fun," said Jordens, who defeated Park City Credit Union's Brian Young head-to-head in the big game to win the title. "It gave me a chance to engage football teams that I had never done before and also gave me a chance to give back to a community fund that's well needed, and that's Camp American Legion."

Grundy added, "Every time we get more community support and guys like Chef Tom, we don't survive without that, honestly. We try to do the same thing, engage the community, but without community support, we're not able to do what we do at camp. Every in-kind donation, every monetary donation, all those things add up to us being able to bring 1,200-plus veterans through every year."
