Laser Pros International led Crandon 14-0 after two innings last week before Mother Nature interfered and washed out their Northwoods Babe Ruth Senior League contest.

The runs didn't come quite as easily for the Senior League leaders during Tuesday's make-up date, but Laser Pros came alive for seven runs over their final three at-bats to earn an 8-0 win over the Cardinals at Stafford Field.

Because last week's game did not reach the fifth inning, the results from the contest were erased and the game began anew. It was a much different start this time around as Laser Pros had only one run after two, thanks to a Jordan Kuczmarski double and a Ben Sinclair sacrifice fly in the second.

Eventually, Laser Pros came to life.

Logan Schmoeger hit a two-run single to score Ian Miller and Jesse Mahner in the fourth to give Laser Pros a 3-0 edge. They doubled their lead in the fifth. Logan Cook reached on an error and scored on Isaac Bixby's two-out double. Devyn Orth reached on an error allowing Bixby to score and Orth scored on a base hit by Miller.

Two more insurance runs crossed in the sixth. Schmoeger singled and scored on a balk and Kaden Chillemi hit a two-out double to score Sinclair.

That was more than enough for Laser Pros, which used four pitchers to toss a three-hit shutout. Mahner started, allowed a hit and struck out four over three innings. Miller got the win in relief, allowing a hit and striking out two over two innings. Orth pitched a perfect sixth inning with a strikeout and Schmoeger worked around a hit and a walk in the seventh.

In all, Laser Pros pounded out 10 hits in the contest - including two-hit nights by Bixby, Miller and Schmoeger. Mahner, Kuczmarski, Sinclair and Chillemi recorded the team's other hits.

The win moved Laser Pros to 7-0 in the Senior League.

Eagle River Blue 4, Rhinelander Green 1

Rhinelander Green had second-place Eagle River Blue on the ropes much of the way, but a four-run sixth inning proved to be the difference as the Eagles rallied past the Green team 4-1 in a Senior League contest Monday night at Stafford Field.

Logan Hissom hit a two-run inside the park home run for the Eagles in the sixth, which drove in the game-winning run.

Rhinelander got out early in a pitchers duel. Joe Schneider singled home Mason Davis in the first to give the Green team a lead it would carry to the sixth inning. Rhinelander kept Eagle River out of both the run and hit column until that point, but Dominic Ratliff tied it for the Eagles on an error-added trip around the bases. Isaac Vedder then broke up the no-hit bid with a single off Schneider. Two batters later, Hissom hit a shot off the base of the fence in deep right center and motored around the bases before Rhinelander could get the ball in. Nolan Lurvey walked and scored on a wild pitch later in the inning.

The Green team could muster no offense in the sixth or seventh innings and had only three hits on the night - two from Schneider and a single by Sam Schoppe in the second.

Ryan Jamison started for Rhinelander, pitched three innings, walked four and struck out five. Jacksen Smith struck out three and walked three over two innings. Jamison and Smith worked out of bases-loaded jams in the first and fourth, respectively.

Schneider struck out five but took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits over the final two innings.

The loss dropped Rhinelander Green to 4-4 in the Senior League.

Three Lakes 11, Rhinelander Black 3

Rhinelander Black could not get out of an early hole in Monday night's Prep League game at Stafford Field and fell to Three Lakes 11-3.

The Black team spotted the Bluejays five runs in the first inning as starter Mason Baker walked five batters in two-thirds of an inning. Three Lakes added two runs each in the third, fifth and sixth innings.

Rhinelander got two runs in the second inning, all before recording an out. Caleb Plaumann hit a sacrifice fly to right to score Richard Threlkeld and reached when the ball was dropped out in right. Baker added an RBI single to score Hanson.

The Rhinelander bats were quiet until the sixth when Alex Rappley singled to score Pierce French. Threlkeld, Baker and Rappley were responsible for Rhinelander Black's three hits on the night.

Rappley pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief of Baker, struck out five and allowed only one hit. Will Gretzinger and Oscar Hanson each allowed two runs in an inning of work. Gretzinger struck out three batters in the sixth.

Rhinelander Black fell to 2-4 with the loss.

Green Prep picks up forfeit win

Rhinelander Green was supposed to play Eagle River in a Prep League game prior to the Laser Pros contest Tuesday at Stafford Field, but the game did not take place. A Rhinelander Babe Ruth official told the River News that Eagle River did not have enough players for the contest, and the game has been listed as a forfeit victory for Rhinelander Green on the Northwoods Babe Ruth League website. The win moved Rhinelander Green to 4-3 on the year, 1 1/2 games behind Three Lakes for second place in the Prep League.
