Joseph Andrew Mahner, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 26, 2019, while fishing in Ontario, Canada. He was born July 23, 1943, in Rhinelander, to Arnold and Marie (James) Mahner.

Joe was a beloved dad, son, grandpa, great-grandpa, partner, brother, uncle, mentor, and friend. He was a master plumber and operated his own plumbing business for many years. Joe was active with Boy Scouts of America and had earned his Eagle Scout designation. He was also involved in Little League Baseball, Fast-pitch Softball, and was a member of the local Houndsman group. Joe's true passion in life was anything having to do with the outdoors including fishing, hunting, and cutting wood. He had the opportunity to participate in many trips to Canada as a hunter, fisherman, and guide. A milestone accomplishment for Joe was holding the Wisconsin State Black Bear record and that special trophy will be displayed during his visitation. Most of all, Joe will be remembered for his love of family and friends and for his great sense of humor. "If Joe picked on ya, he liked ya". "Boom Chicka Boom"

He is further survived by his four siblings, Carol (Mike) Umland, Jeff (Karol) Mahner, Linda O'Brien Mahner, and Stephen (Brenda Shepard) Mahner; an uncle, Monte (Dora) James; an aunt, Margaret Nylund; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Last but not least, he is survived by his dog companions, Roxey, Jan, Jack, and Ziggy. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Mahner, and a granddaughter, Megan Marie.

Inurnment will take place in the Hiles Cemetery in Forest County with a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2019, meeting at the cemetery.
