In 1946, Ann earned her nursing degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing and a certificate in Public Health from Marquette University, both in Milwaukee. She worked for many years at Oneida County Health Department, and later at St. Mary's Hospital. Ann concluded her nursing career teaching students at Nicolet College in Rhinelander.
In 1952, Ann married John F. O'Melia, and together they raised five children: John (Kathy) O'Melia, Kerry (Gary) Tiesling, Sharon (John) Sykes, Maureen, and the Honorable Patrick (Karalyn) O'Melia.
She was an extremely proud grandma to Matthew (Bridget) Tiesling, Jennifer (Greg) Aune, Annie (Chase) Vaughn, Patrick (Catherine) Tiesling, Michael (Amy) O'Melia, Christopher Sykes, and Sarah, Elliott, Samuel, Eva, and Matthew O'Melia and eight great-grandchildren.
Throughout the years, Ann was active in many volunteer endeavors ranging from Boy Scout troop leader to serving on the Boards of Nativity School Endowment and St. Mary's Hospital Foundation.
She was a skilled Duplicate Bridge player and won tournaments throughout the Midwest. She loved to travel, read, knit, play tennis and swim. Her happiest place was her beloved Sugar Camp Lake cottage, where she enjoyed gathering with family and friends.
Ann is further survived by her sisters, Salley Kremer, Jeanne Hertzog, and Sr. Sarah Ann (Nancy). She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, Colonel Patrick O'Malley, and sisters, Ida Mary Pearce and Sylvia Eichner.
