In 1950 Raymond and three of his brothers (John, Donald and Robert) were all members of the 120th Field Artillery Battalion in the National Guard. At the time they were the only four brother combination in the country. In the late 1970s Ray and Dorothy moved to their cabin on Nose Lake where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
Raymond enjoyed working in his shop and created some beautiful wood carvings. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing stories with them.
Raymond is survived by his children: Gary (Jeanne) Williams, Greg (Jan) Williams, Tom (Ruby) Williams, Sue (Kurt) Kroening, and Richard Williams; brothers, John Williams, and Donald Williams; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, brothers Frank, Robert and Gene, and sister Marge.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Raymond at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Nativity of our Lord Catholic Church in Rhinelander with Father Michael Tupa officiating. A visitation will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church just prior to the service. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the Williams family.
