Rev. Roy Norman Johnson

Reverend Roy Norman Johnson, age 96 of Rhinelander, passed peacefully into heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018. He was a resident of Grace Lodge for the past 17 years. Roy was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Chicago, to Arthur and Anna Johnson.

Roy attended Maywood High School and served our country in the U.S. Army as a conscientious objector in Korea.

He attended Carlton College and McCormic Theological Seminary.

Roy married Wanda Morehart in 1944. Throughout his career, he served as a Presbyterian minister for five different churches, and spiritually impacted the lives of many. Roy retired to Rhinelander in 1985. He was loved by his family and many friends, and he will be dearly missed by all.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Anna (Moberg) and Arthur Johnson; his wife, Wanda Johnson; his son, Jack Johnson; and his grandson, Adam Johnson. He is survived by his children, Jill (Roy) Grauer and Jim Johnson; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Allison, Heather, Kyle, and Kelly; and his great- grandchildren, Curtis, Mia, Kate, Abigail, Grace, Madison, Lily, and Joseph.

A memorial service for Roy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Carlson Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Wakefield officiating. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is serving the family.
