Andy Cordova, manager of the Rhinelander office of KerberRose, a certified public accounting firm, has been named the winner of the company's "Spirit of Community" award.

Each year, KerberRose employees gather to celebrate a year of hard work, reconnect with colleagues, and recognize employees for their years of service, company officials explained in a press release. In 2018, KerberRose added an additional employee award category that included the "Spirit of Community" award. "This award was developed to honor team members who are making significant contributions to their community through donating their time, actions, talent and dedication," the release states. "Managers and shareholders nominated team members who they felt exemplified KerberRose values through their community service efforts, served as a role model for compassion and service, and was driven to make their community a better place."

Cordova was selected as the recipient of this award for many reasons, the release states.

"Andy dedicates his time and talent to an impressive amount of community organizations and truly exemplifies the values of KerberRose through his volunteer efforts."

"Community involvement provides a great sense of belonging, and it's really rewarding to know my efforts are helping to serve the people and needs of my community," commented Cordova. "I am humbled and excited to be the first recipient of the KerberRose 'Spirit of Community' award, and I knew right away I wanted the donation to go toward an organization where I volunteer my time."

KerberRose provided a $1,000 donation to the Crescent Volunteer Fire Department on Cordova's behalf. Selecting the organization was an easy choice for Cordova, "...because of the incredible work of our members and also knowing the donation would be put to immediate use." The check was presented to fire chief Keven Mahner in early January.

Mahner commented, "Thank you for your generous donation to our volunteer fire department. Your contribution will be deposited in the Department's general contingency fund. This fund is used by the department for the purchase of PPE, uniforms, upgrading equipment, and any items our operations budget doesn't allow for. It is through continuing donations, from supporters such as you, which enable us to maintain and improve our response capabilities."

KerberRose is a Wisconsin certified public accounting firm located in Northeast and North Central Wisconsin. It includes over 160 professional staff members and offices in Shawano, Green Bay, Fox Cities, Clintonville, Sister Bay, Rhinelander, Oshkosh, Stevens Point, Antigo and Wausau.
