The Rhinelander and Lakeland Union high school wrestling teams honored the late Tom Handrick, who served as an assistant coach for both teams, prior to Thursday night's dual meet at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

Rhinelander head coach and Lakeland alum Nathan Piasecki delivered a lengthy speech, honoring Handrick and recounting some light-hearted stories. The schools established the Handrick Hammer trophy, which will be the annual traveling trophy the teams will wrestle for each year.

"Tonight, I really want to give a special gratitude to Mrs. Handrick, Tommy's brothers, son and relatives. I also want to say thank you to LUHS and RHS for supporting this new tradition and memorializing a great man," Piasecki said.
