The Northwoods awoke to a heavy blanket of snow Wednesday morning which kept the Oneida County Highway Department plow crews busy. According to the National Weather Service office in Green Bay, 7 1/2 inches of snow fell in Rhinelander between Tuesday afternoon and early Wednesday morning. There will be little rest from the white stuff as another round is expected to dump even more snow today. The National Weather Service had issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect until midnight tonight for much of the Northwoods. Five to 11 inches of snow is forecasted, with locally heavier amounts possible in some areas.
