James Williams Middle School (JWMS) and Rhinelander Partners in Education (PIE) have been working together on a service learning project involving paper origami cranes, also known as peace cranes.

JWMS students were given the opportunity to make peace cranes during the week of Dec 9-13, according to a School District of Rhinelander press release.

The peace cranes will be available to the community at the following PIE businesses for a $1 donation:

• Nicolet National Bank

• YMCA of the Northwoods

• Peoples State Bank

• Park City Credit Union

• WXPR

• O'Melia, Schiek & McEldowney

• Marshfield Clinic Dental

The proceeds from the donations will go to NATH - Frederick Place (Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing) homeless shelter. NATH assists many of the JWMS students and their families with food and shelter, finding them housing, and connecting them to community supports, the release states.

Peace cranes will be available throughout the months of December and January.
