Rhinelander FBLA/DECA to hold annual Jeans for Teens drive
"The holiday season is upon us and sadly this year there are many families left struggling just to get by," according to a school district press release announcing the jean collection project. "About 17 percent of children in the Northwoods live below the poverty level. These children may go through their day-to- day life without the necessities needed to live a healthy life, such as food, shelter, and clothes. The Rhinelander High School FBLA/DECA would love to help these children out in its latest service activity, Jeans for Teens."
From Dec. 18 to Jan. 8, the group will be collecting gently used jeans and giving them to teens and others in the community who need them.
"Please help out FBLA/DECA by donating some of your old jeans," the release states. "The collection sites to drop off your jean donations are located at: Rhinelander High School, James Williams Middle School, Crescent Elementary School, Pelican Elementary School, NCES, Central School, Maurices, Rhinelander District Library, A La Mode, Bath and Body Creations, Northern Coffee, and the YMCA. Look for the big box wrapped in colorful Christmas paper. If you have a pair of jeans that have been sitting in your closet since you can't remember when, a pair that you got last Christmas and never actually liked, or even a pair you just don't fit into anymore; we will take them!" Donated jeans will go to the local Frederick Place homeless shelter. For more information, contact Kaylee Brown of FBLA/DECA at (715) 365-9500 or e-mail: [email protected].
