Seventh-grader Macy Lester was the top finisher for the Hodag girls, placing sixth overall in the 2.3-kilometer skate race with a time of 8 minutes, 56.1 seconds. The Hodag girls had five skiers in the top 15 overall. Nora Rutkowski was eighth (9:11.7), Brynn Teter finished 12th (9:39.4), Violet Biolo was 14th (9:43.6) and Sophie Miljevich was 15th (9:46.7).
Eighth-grader Ryan Morien led the way for the Hodag boys, taking seventh overall (7:57.1). The rest of Rhinelander's top five were Mason Shinners (13th, 8:22.5), Olin Slette (18th, 9:03.7), Charlie Loomis (19th, 9:21.0) and Austen Slette (35th, 12:17.2).
Additionally, the middle schoolers were broken into two age groups for individual awards, and the Hodags had four skiers reach the podium. Lester was fifth-fastest among seventh-and-eighth-grade girls, Biolo was third-fastest in the girls' fifth-and-sixth-grade category, Ella Miljevich (12:22.8) was fifth in the fifth-and-sixth-grade category and Olin Slette took third in the boys' fourth-through-sixth-grade category.
