Over 450 students in the School District of Rhinelander coded during Computer Science Education Week, celebrated during the first of December, using unplugged resources and a variety of devices.

"According to researchers, there will be an estimated one million unfilled coding and computer science jobs in 2020," according to a school district press release. "Coding has found its way into just about every industry today. Therefore, every 21st century learner should have the opportunity to learn basic coding skills. While coding, students practice communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills, which are beneficial in any job, not just computer programming jobs."

Over 100 million students across the world participated in coding activities during Computer Science Education Week, which is held each year in honor of computing pioneer Grace Hopper.
