Northwoods United Way executive director Nancy Sattler recently accepted a contribution from the USW Women of Steel Local 2-15. The gift was presented by members Kay Bloom and Lindy Roberts, both of whom are members of Women of Steel Ahlstrom Munksjo.

"The WOS worked hard to collect hats, coats, gloves and socks for members of our community," Sattler said in a press release. "It's great that we have these concerned, involved community members that want to make sure they do all that they can to help ensure everyone is warm this cold weather season."

"Our winter is just starting here in northern Wisconsin, and we want to help keep everyone warm the next few months. Each year we've looked for ways to serve our community, and this year, with the early winter we thought that this would be a good way to show that we care," Bloom explained. "The forecast is calling for cold weather so we want to make sure everyone is prepared. We collected donations at Ahlstrom Munksjo for the past two weeks, and the employees really got involved by bringing in donations."

"The USW Women of Steel are Local 2-15 Union Sisters that try to collect and donate different times of the year for different types of need. School Supplies, Food Pantry, Military Soldiers, and local women shelters are just some of the recipients of the WOS collection efforts," said Roberts.

The Northwoods United Way works to advance the common good by focusing on the building blocks for a quality life: health, income and education. It serves community members in Vilas, Oneida, and Forest counties. Currently, the Northwoods United Way provides funding to 26 agencies throughout the three counties.

"We are in the middle of our 2019 pledge campaign and are asking all businesses and private donors to help us achieve our goal," Sattler said. "The money raised by the Northwoods United Way will be used to fund agencies in 2020 within the counties we serve."
