Five individuals representing the Rhinelander Figure Skating Club traveled to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the State Games of America July 31-Aug. 4 on the campus of Liberty University.

On the ice for the club were Aubrey Barber, Nicole Brunette, Grace Hoger, Sadie Jones and Alyssa Lamb. The five competed in 21 different events and came home with 13 medals - including three gold medals. The medal count for the Hodag skaters was as follows:

Gold Medals (3)

Hoger - novice free skate

Lamb - pre-preliminary showcase dramatic entertainment

Lamb/Jones - preliminary showcase duet

Silver Medals (5)

Barber - solo pattern dance

Brunette - pre-preliminary compulsory moves

Jones - preliminary jumps

Lamb - pre-preliminary jumps, pre-preliminary interpretative showcase

Bronze Medals (5)

Barber - open juvenile short program, pre-juvenile jumps

Jones - preliminary compulsory moves

Lamb - pre-preliminary free skate, pre-preliminary spins

Other Awards

Barber - fourth place, pre-juvenile jumps

Jones - fourth place, free skate

To qualify for the State Games of America, a biannual event, skaters had to either medal in events at the Badger State Games in 2018 or 2019, or medal in a previous State Games of America.

The squad was coached by Hoger and Lauryn Cook.
