Bill was born April 25, 1930, in Rhinelander, to Dewey and Stella (Skoven) Lavender. After his schooling he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Rhinelander and went to work for the Rhinelander Paper Company. He retired from the paper mill in 1992.
Bill was fortunate to have enjoyed over 25 years of retirement. In retirement he enjoyed working in his sawmill and building things in his shop. He was an amazing mechanic, craftsman and hobby farmer. He loved his pets. He enjoyed talking over a cup of coffee and he was always there to help others. Bill was a loving father who taught by his quiet, loving and Christian ways.
Bill is survived by his daughters Linda (Culver) TerBeest, Julene (Michael) Kuehl and Shannon Jacobson, his sons Robin (Lynn Mode) Lavender and Randy (Jan) Richter; 11 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren, his sister Donna (Jerry) Baker, his sister-in-law Melody Lemke; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his son William Lavender Jr., his sisters Bonnie and Dolores Fish, his brother Robert and his parents.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on June 15, 2019 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Pelican Town Hall. You may leave your private condolences for the Lavender family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Lavender family.
