He was born in Virginia, Minn on Feb. 6, 1936, to Lloyd and Genevieve Milender. He enjoyed growing up in Minnesota. At the age of 18, he entered the United States Air Force and served his country for 20 years. He had military service during the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam Conflict. He learned to fly private planes and later worked as a commercial pilot for several years. His spare time was spent fishing, hunting or with his family. For the last three years he has been spending summers on the Let's Go Fishing pontoon boat, a very rewarding use of his time with the fishing and boat rides.
He is survived by his wife, Esther, and his five children, Shirley (Jim Norton), Jackie and Dale Whittaker, Kenneth and Kirsten Milender, Karen Garland, and Joan and Jackie Adkins; 27 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Following his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
