Sandy worked in the kitchen at Friendly Village for a number of years until a stroke caused her early retirement. Sandy was a familiar face throughout Rhinelander as she completed her daily walks and made many friendships on her regular excursions.
Sandy is survived by her siblings, James (Judy) Tanner, Linda Ring, and Gary (Chris) Thorstenson, all of Rhinelander; stepsister, Beverly Hansen; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Dirk Lammert.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willis Tanner; her mother and stepfather, Gladys and LeRoy Thorstenson; brother, Larry Tanner; sister, Carol Mericle; and stepsister, Roxanne Thorstenson.
Per Sandy's request, there will be no formal funeral service. A private family service with inurnment in Northland Memorial Park will take place. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting the family with arrangements.
