Richard attended schools in Rhinelander graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1953. He married Janet Denton on June 4, 1954 in Rhinelander. Together they raised nine children and enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He was a wonderful father and good provider.
Richard went to work right out of high school at the Rhinelander Paper Company. He was with the mill for over 40 years. During those 40 years he always had a second or third job that he worked. One of them he enjoyed was with Rhinelander's Parks and Rec Dept.
After his marriage to Janet, Richard became a member of the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church and has been since then. In his spare time, which wasn't much with nine children and two jobs, he had many interests. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, deer camp each year and fishing.
He also enjoyed music, dancing and going to the casino. All of these activities were with Janet, the kids, or both. As a good Wisconsin native he was a big fan of the Hodags, Badgers, Brewers and Packers. He will be missed by many.
Richard's family wishes to thank Dr. Steven Brooks for the wonderful care he gave our husband and father.
Richard is survived by his wife Janet, his daughters Katherine Klement, Tamara Marquardt-Hook and Elizabeth Halverson, his sons Gregory (Alice) Marquardt, Jeffery (Diane) Marquardt, Randal Marquardt, Karl (Rita) Marquardt Mitchell Marquardt and Timothy Marquardt, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Gloria Jean and his brother Butch.
Visitation for Richard will be held Monday, Oct. 8, 2018 from 9 to 11 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 s.m., all at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Father Kevin Farrell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery.
