Beef-A-Rama has been held annually for more than 50 years, pulling in some 40,000 people, according to Minocqua Chamber of Commerce executive director Krystal Westfahl.
"This is really a chance for us to give back and say thanks to the community and tourists for a great season," Westfahl observed.
Main events are between The Boathouse to past Torpy Park. Entertainment will be primarily downtown on Front and Chicago streets and at Torpy Park.
Roasters begin before dawn Saturday.
Morning kicks off with the Rump Roast Run along Lake Minocqua. Also featured are live music, a craft show, cow pie plop contest, concessions, bounce houses, petting zoo, non-profit vendors, kids' beef eating competition, raffles, vendors, beef eating contest and the Stampede of Roasters (formerly the roaster parade) down main street toward Torpy Park where winners are announced. There will also be a beer garden, live radio broadcast, dunk tank, corn roasts, awards and more.
The Prime Choice Craft Show typically includes around 111 vendors with a variety of handcrafted and artisan items of every sort.
Culinary Contest
The contest now has five roaster slots: woodsmoke, charcoal, woodfire, gas and slow cooker. There are 15 roasts in each category and each has their own judge. The culinary competition is based on appearance, taste and originality, Westfahl said.
