On paper, Great Northern Conference-leading Mosinee came into Friday night's conference matchup against last place Rhinelander as a heavy favorite. The numbers didn't lie as the Indians dominated the contest, holding Rhinelander to 20 points in a three-set win at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

Mosinee quickly dispatched Rhinelander 25-7, 25-5, 25-8 in a match that took only 46 minutes to complete.

"It definitely was a learning experience but we'll get back on Monday and get ready for Northland Pines (on Tuesday)," Rhinelander coach Brianna Scheuermann said afterward.

Leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the opening set were the only advantages Rhinelander had all night. The Hodags committed six straight errors as part of a 8-0 run that allowed Mosinee to take control early in the first set.

Mosinee raced out to a 13-1 lead in the second set and led 10-3 in the third as Rhinelander never strung together back-to-back points in the match.

"We have some work to do," Scheuermann said. "Tonight, it seemed like we just couldn't get a pass up. They serve hard. They hit hard. We really couldn't get blocks. Our passing wasn't there, which affected our hitting because we couldn't get a pass up. When we did get a setup, we had so many hitting errors.

"I don't know if it all those mistakes getting to their heads. The Mosinee bench is always loud and that could have done it too, but the whole night seemed to have ups and downs in different areas, but it seemed that passing was one of the weakest points of the night."

Novalee Juel had three kills to lead Rhinelander while Hannah Worachek chipped in two. Mikayla Evenstad had eight digs and Olivia TerBeest had two assists. Rhinelander was 17 of 22 serving on the night with no service aces.

Janae Antosch led Mosinee with 11 kills, including putaways on set point in both the first and second sets. Hanna Nest added seven kills for the Indians.

Rhinelander (1-26, 0-6 Great Northern) has now lost 25 straight matches and will travel to Northland Pines Tuesday night, looking to improve on some of the areas it struggled with on Friday.

"Communication was another thing that we lacked," Scheuermann said. "We had girls running into each other. Hopefully we can get calling and communication so we can get passing, do something with the ball and just stay with them."
