Fireside Supper Club on County Highway K will be under new ownership as of Oct. 10.

Margo Morey and her husband, Earl, are retiring after owning and operating Fireside for over 30 years.

"It's a little more of an adventure of the unknown because we've never been retired before," Margo said, adding that it is bittersweet to close the Fireside chapter of their lives.

The Moreys decided to put the restaurant up for sale about three years, she said. The new owners - Eric and Jennifer Blomdahl - made an offer in July.

Jennifer Blomdahl is not new to the restaurant business - her family owned a restaurant in Illinois during her childhood and teen years - and the couple have both been interested in the idea for some time.

"We put together a list of like 15 or 16 different things that we'd want to accomplish if we ever would purchase a restaurant and when Fireside went up on sale we pursued it and, ironically, it met every one of the things that we put on the list as far as specific things that we wanted to make sure a restaurant had if we were ever to do it," Eric said.

They were specifically looking for a supper club with a a nice lake view and rustic look and feel, Eric said, noting that patrons of the establishment should hardly notice a difference once the transition takes place. Everything from the menu to the staff will remain the same, he said.

"The customers should not even notice a transition from ownership to ownership," Eric said, adding that he and his wife value the hard work that the Moreys have put into the establishment.

"We're excited to continue on Earl and Margo's tradition and we're really looking forward to meeting all the great customers that visit," he said.

"It's kind of an honor that they realize that our hard work has paid off by having a successful restaurant and the fact that they want to continue with that, we're kind of honored that they want to do that," Margo said.

The Moreys would like to thank everyone for their patronage over the years.
