Pro Arte String Quartet to perform at Nicolet Sept. 14
As the resident ensemble of the Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the quartet was the first ensemble-in-residence to be established at a major American university more than 100 years ago.
The San Francisco Chronicle has hailed the current group as "one of the greatest quartets of our time."
Tickets are $15 and can be ordered online at nicoletlive.com or by calling 715-365-4646.
The quartet serves UW-Madison with a full schedule of performances, education, and recordings, and produces a series of live radio broadcasts each year. They've performed throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia, and have been featured at the White House.
The quartet will perform familiar classical standards as well as a sampling of new commissioned works.
Musicians of the Pro Arte Quartet are David Perry, violin; Suzanne Beia, violin; Sally Chisholm, viola; and Parry Karp, cello. All are artists-in-residence and professors at UW-Madison.
More information about the quartet can be found at proartequartet.org.
