2018-2019 season lineup
The 2018-2019 season marks the 37th year the LPAA has sponsored affordably priced, first-class live entertainment for the greater Lakeland area, as well as student educational opportunities through student clinics held by many of the participating concert performers on the afternoon of each event, according to an LPAA press release. All performances are held at the Lakeland Union School Theatre, 9753 State Highway 70 West, Minocqua, and begin at 7 p.m.
This year's LPAA series is once again filled with variety, energy and talented artists. It includes six concerts and opens on Wednesday, Sept. 12 with the classic rock 'n' roll music of the 1950s featuring "Bandstand Boogie" with the original Diamonds vocal group performing many of their 16 Billboard hit pop records, including "Little Darlin'."
Other 2018-19 concerts include:
• The versatile, mixed vocal quartet of 7th Avenue on Wednesday, Oct. 10, combining elements of pop, swing, rockabilly, country and much more
• Charlie Albright on Monday, Nov. 5, a classical pianist who has been hailed as "among the most gifted musicians of his generation" and praised for his "dazzling natural keyboard affinity" by the Washington Post.
• The talented, sought-after Wisconsin Singers of UW on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, taking audiences on a journey of five decades of popular music with stunning choreography, big band sound and Badger spirit
• The charismatic Chicago Harp Quartet on Thursday, March 28, 2019, bringing harp ensemble music to center stage by transforming the classics and creating innovative works
• The Jersey Tenors on Friday, May 3, 2019, bringing an explosive blend of the most popular opera classics alongside rock 'n' roll greats like Elton John and Billy Joel as well as the Jersey home-town talent music of Frankie Valli, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and more.
This season also offers pre-concert entertainment by the Lakeland Union High School jazz band.
