A consumer education teacher at James Williams Middle School was arrested Oct. 21 and charged the next day with operating while intoxicated, fourth offense, according to online court records.

According to published accounts, Joshua A. Ison was found by Marathon County sheriff's deputies sleeping in his vehicle alongside I-39 near Knowlton. When deputies woke Ison, he allegedly showed signs of intoxication. A police report attached to the criminal complaint says a preliminary breath test showed Ison had a blood alcohol content of 0.14. Blood samples were obtained after a search warrant was authorized.

Court records, which show Ison has a Crandon address, show previous OWI convictions in Langlade and Portage counties as well as a more recent charge outside of Wisconsin.

Ison is free on a $1,000 cash bond.

According to School District of Rhinelander director of instruction Teri Maney, Ison is currently on administrative leave.

His next court date is Nov. 16.
