Ascension welcomes physiatrist and sports medicine specialist
Board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (Physiatry) and Primary Care Sports Medicine, Brusch was born in Woodruff and graduated from Lakeland Union High School, according to a press release announcing his hiring. He earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at Carolinas Rehabilitation and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Brusch specializes in the evaluation and management of neurologic and muscular issues. Utilizing real-time modalities such as diagnostic ultrasound and nerve conduction studies, he evaluates injuries and develops comprehensive treatment plans for patients of all ages, the release states. He has special interest in the care of athletes and those with special needs.
"My goal is for patients to understand how or why an injury occurred, and what the next steps are for management or rehabilitation," said Brusch. "I am excited to return to the Northwoods as I recognize the unique challenges of seeking specialty care in rural areas."
