The Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center invites the public to celebrate the official state fruit this weekend at the 39th annual Cranberry Fest.

A family event for people of all ages, Cranberry Fest will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Vilas County Fairgrounds, organizers said in a press release.

A free shuttle bus will be available on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to transport people to the different activities, the release states. Shuttle busses run approximately every 20-30 minutes.

Guests can taste an array of delicious cranberry-flavored food and drink items, such as juice, soda, beer, meatballs, fritters, pies, breads and chutney, during the festival.

In addition, a pancake breakfast will be served on festival grounds in the large food tent from 7 to 10 a.m.

The Cranberry Fest Beer and Wine Garden will featur local cranberry beer and wine, the release states. Beer will be sold by the glass and wine sold by the bottle and by the glass.

The Christ Lutheran Church 2018 Berry Bog 5K Jog will take place at Riverview Park. Parking is available at River Valley Bank. Reservations are requested for tours of a local cranberry marsh and wine tasting. Tours will leave from the Eagle Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center at 201 N. Railroad St. in Eagle River starting Thursday, Oct. 4 and go through Sunday, Oct. 7. Tours are $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Cranberry Fest will also feature over 300 arts and crafts vendors who will be showcasing home-created items made by the sellers themselves.

"After visiting the festivities on the festival grounds don't forget to enjoy all the activities located in downtown Eagle River on Saturday," the chamber urges. "Activities include an antique market, farmers market, fresh cranberry and craisin sales, Lake Country Weaver and Fiber Artists show and sale, hot food and beverages, and a Cranberry Fest luncheon at the First Congregational Church."

Pets are not allowed at the Vilas County Fairgrounds.
