The conference was held Sept. 23 - 25 and the theme was Building Collaboration & Partnerships, according to a press release announcing Beckman's participation. Lumberjack RC&D serves nine counties in Northeast Wisconsin.
"The National Conference is held every other year and brings together RC&D professionals, the release states. Among states represented at this year's conference were Wisconsin, Minnesota, Alabama, California, Idaho, New Mexico, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina & Hawaii. Attendees learned from professionals in the fields of non-profit governance, finance and public relations and heard success stories from their colleagues.
"Beckman, along with public relations professional, Bob Walker, told the story of their branding initiative that has been a collaborative effort by Walker and four Wisconsin RC&D Councils (Glacierland RC&D, Golden Sands RC&D, Lumberjack RC&D and Southwest Badger RC&D) and is now in the implementation stage," the release states. "The effort was spurred by a desire for the group to send a cohesive message about their common goals under the RC&D umbrella and at the same time, emphasize their unique qualities and landscapes. RC&Ds bring together an array of local stakeholders to address conservation and economic issues within their communities. They implement projects that are sustainable and help improve the quality of life for residents. RC&Ds have been around for more than 50 years."
