To help voters prepare for the Nov. 6, 2018, Oneida County Referendum, an educational tour and presentation will be offered on Saturday morning, Oct. 13, at Lynne. All are invited to come experience on foot the terrain of the mineral deposit site at Lynne, organizers said in a press release. The referendum asks voters to choose "yes" or "no" to whether mining should be allowed or not in the county-owned forest lands in the town of Lynne.

People will gather by 8:30 a.m. at the Willow Region Fire Department building, 5086 Willow Road, Tripoli.

The guided tour starts at 8:45 a.m. Once on-site, the tour will involve approximately one mile of county forest walking. Participants should dress appropriately for outdoor weather, and likely wet conditions underfoot, organizers said in a press release. Waterproof shoes or boots are advised.

The tour will return to the fire department by 10 a.m. for a presentation and discussion of facts related to the Lynne deposit and the perceived impacts of mining to the adjacent Willow Flowage. The discussion will wrap up by noon. For more information, contact Karl Fate at [email protected].
