The holiday fun will start at 5 p.m. with the parade of floats through the downtown district, followed by the lighting of the holiday tree at Stevensport Square, organizers said in a press release.
This year's parade theme is "The Season of Giving' and float designs will be based on the things people enjoy giving during the holiday season, the release states.
The procession will start at the police department on Brown Street and travel south and then east to King Street and north to Stevens Street before arriving at Stevensport Square. In keeping with the theme, non-perishable food items and toys will be collected at the parade and tree lighting.
After the tree is lit, Santa Claus will listen to Christmas wishes from local youngsters.
Hot chocolate and cookies will be served and the Masonic Lodge will be open if the weather is chilly and people need to warm up.
Holiday music is also planned.
