Three actors and a six-piece band fronted by vocalist Mick Sterling combine their considerable talents to create a unique blend of family-fueled comedy and drama, the college announced in a press release.
"At Christmas" is like seeing a show being performed in your own living room with stories that happened in your own family, the release states. The 90-minute show is a reflection of what the holidays are - funny, poignant, and heartwarmingly tender.
"This show is the essence of Christmas," said Nicolet College Theatre Director Jim Nuttall. "It's a combination of original theater and traditional carols that will delight the audience. It all makes for a very entertaining family friendly variety show."
The comedy and drama portion is written and performed by three alumni of Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop, Shannon Custer, Michelle Cassioppi, and Jim Robinson. The troupe combines favorite sketches with improvisation, so the show is never quite the same.
"This is our tenth year doing this, and we still never know quite what to expect," said John Wright, the band's bass guitarist. "It is very, very genuine, as genuine as it gets. There's no schtick, no faking. It's all very real. And really, really, really funny."
In addition to Wright on bass, the band includes Lisi Wright on fiddle and vocals, Steve Lehto on guitar, Matt Jacobs on drums, musical director Peter Guertin on piano, and vocalist Mick Sterling. The show includes fresh arrangements of Christmas musical favorites.
The Nicolet College Theatre is one of only 15 venues privileged to share the "At Christmas" holiday experience this year.
Tickets are $15 and can be ordered online at nicoletlive.com or by calling (715) 365-4646.
