Pelican School families raise money to send Vietnam vet on Honor Flight
According to a school district press release, Pelican students and staff raised money through popcorn sales and other donations to send Vietnam veteran Phillip Herbig on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2019.
Herbig, who served as part of MARSOC (Marine Corps Special Operations Command), is the father of Pelican teacher Shawn Belanger.
"The Pelican family thanks veterans for all they do, and they will continue to do what they can to recognize veterans throughout the year," the release states.
