Additionally, Ansbaugh will have over 40 new pieces of art hanging in one of ArtStart's galleries from Nov. 15 through Jan. 12, according to a gallery press release.
Ansbaugh has had her work exhibited internationally, and most notably with NASA, at John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts, the release states.
She has created materials and patterns for Harley Davidson and patented hospital equipment. Ansbaugh has had work published in books, magazines, and journals and has written articles for Cloth, Paper, Scissors and Studio Art Quilters Associates Journal.
She has received several awards and recognitions for her art including an award from Quilt National 2017, a career highlight and international award.
"Colleen's quiet demure shadows her creative genius," said ArtStart supporter and fiber artist Rene Iannarelli.
"I love the process," said Ansbaugh. "I hand-dye all the materials including the thread which is 100 percent cotton and I use repurposed cloth."
Ansbaugh started her work by sewing clothes with her mother's direction in Minneapolis, Minnesota. "Clothes were less expensive to make than to buy. We would go to high end stores in the city and look at the styles and fabrics, then go buy the fabrics and make them ourselves," said Ansbaugh.
Ansbaugh then went to the University of Minneapolis, Minnesota to earn a Bachelor of Science in Textiles and Clothing and the University of Green Bay to earn a Masters in Business. "I learned the proper way to sew," said Ansbaugh.
From there, Ansbaugh worked in the professional cut and sew industry for 10 years. She joined various fiber groups, a quilting group, and eventually began creating her own patterns by making banners for her church. Through art classes, she learned new techniques which she began adding to her art.
