Rhinelander High School students perform at Madison music conference
The young musicians were chosen for the honor following a rigorous audition process, according to a school district press relrease.
"In the spring of 2018, Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) adjudicators identified truly exemplary soloists who performed at the nine WSMA State Solo & Ensemble Festivals," the release states. "Of the 32,000+ students who qualified and participated at the state level, more than 400 received 'Exemplary Soloist' certificates. After a careful screening process, 11 of those 460 selected vocal and instrumental soloists performed in the combined recital for Wisconsin State Music Conference for an audience of music teachers, parents, other family members, friends and peers."
Bloom performed his classical vocal solo "Der Lindenbaum" by Franz Schubert while Elijah Evers performed with the WSMA Middle Level State Honors Music Project.
"Started in 1967, the WSMA State Honors Music Project provides musically talented students with an opportunity to rehearse and perform with the nation's finest conductors in a professional, highly disciplined setting," the release states. "Selected through a rigorous audition process, students are challenged to perform at their musical best throughout the short rehearsal period, which culminates with a performance in October at the Wisconsin State Music Conference held in Madison each year. For many of these young musicians, the WSMA State Honors Music Project offers the experience of a lifetime, creating friendships, memories and skills they take with them in whatever path they choose."
