James Williams Middle School boys win conference track title

The James Williams Middle School boys' track team won 10 events and took first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference small school track meet held Thursday, May 17 in Antigo.

The Hodags scored 168 points, beating runner-up Mosinee by 50 points. The JWMS girls finished fifth with 74 total points. The combined score of the JWMS boys' and girls' teams was the second best overall in the conference small division.

Included in the Hodags' slate of wins was a new conference record set by Cole Worrall in the 200-meter hurdles.

The following relays and individuals recorded top-eight finishes for the Hodags at conference:

1st Place

Boys: Caleb Olcikas (100, 200), Ty Welk (400), Cole Worrall (200 hurdles) 4x100 relay (Beau Howard, Jett Biolo, Chad Hunt, Olcikas), 4x200 relay (Alexx Huff, Worrall, AJ Bergman, Hunt), 4x400 relay (Welk, Jaden Beske, Jacksen Smith, Bergman), Jacob Schoppe (shot put), Brock Snyder (discus), Beske (high jump).

Girls: Alexandria Gamez (200 hurdles).

2nd Place

Boys: Beske (1,600), Worrall (110 hurdles).

Girls: Gamez (200, 100 hurdles), Ava Lamers (high jump).

3rd Place

Boys: Howard (100, high jump), Cody Ruetz (800, 1600), 4x800 relay (Blue Leatham, Joe Fugle, Brady Schreiber, Colton Leman), Huff (long jump), Jett Biolo (triple jump

Girls: Megan Brown (100), Lamers (110 hurdles).

4th Place

Boys: Jack Seidl (400), Fugle (high jump).

Girls: Lamers (200 hurdles), 4x400 relay (Abi Winnicki, Adriana DeMeyer, Kyheah Hartman, Brown), 4x800 relay (Alexandra Dornfeld, Ellie Van Camp, Madalynn Roeser, Gracie Coackley), Abigale Swanson (shot put, discus), Winnicki (high jump).

5th Place

Boys: Braden Mork (110 hurdles, 200 hurdles).

Girls: 4x100 relay (Natalie Bills, Abigale Johnson, Mariah Jay, Brown), 4x200 relay (Lily Sneller, Wyndi Saari, DeMeyer, Jay).

6th Place

Boys: Snyder (shot put).

Girls: Dornfeld (1,600).

7th Place

Girls: Jay (200), Dornfeld (800), Roeser (1,600), DeMeyer (high jump).

8th Place

Boys: Smith (110 hurdles)

Girls: Sneller (200), Winnicki (400), Ellie Van Camp (1,600), Brown (long jump).
