Rhinelander firefighters were at the scene of a silo fire at Red Arrow Products off of U.S. Highway 8 West for over 4 hours Tuesday. According to a fire department spokesman, sawdust in the silo somehow caught fire sometime around 1:30 p.m. Upon arriving on scene the firefighters hooked into the sprinkler system inside the silo through a standpipe which eventually extinguished the fire. The top of the silo was sprayed from above via a remote controlled nozzle on the end of the RFD's ladder. The other three silos were checked for embers, as were the conveyors and elevators that connect them to the main building. The fire was still under investigation as of Wednesday.
