The Rhinelander High School junior varsity golf team tied for second in a nine-hole Great Northern Conference match at Rhinelander Country Club Friday, May 4 and followed it up with a runner-up performance at Black River Golf Course in Medford Monday, May 7.
The Hodags shot 218 at Rhinelander Country Club to finish even with Northland Pines and seven strokes behind Antigo. Rhinelander's Nick Schiek finished second overall, shooting a round of 47. Nick Sandstrom shot 52, Jakob Losch shot 58, Anthony Klabunde shot 61, Cooper Kovac shot 62 and Jared Arno carded a 69. Sean Mathews, playing as a non-scoring marker, shot 64.
Kovac and Ryan Holly both shot 48s to lead the Hodags at Medford as they shot 213, 12 strokes behind the Raiders. Schiek shot 57, Arno carded a 60, Nathan Lawrence shot 62 and Dayton Haenel shot 76.
