Northland Music Center offers string recycling to commemorate Earth Day
D'Addario, a popular guitar string company, hosts events such as the one at Northland Music regularly and recently partnered with TerraCycle, who will help convert the old guitar strings into new products. While Northland Music offers their recycling service year-round, this day gave customers a chance to walk out with new strings on their instrument.
"There were three of us stringing guitars today," said Will Roffers, owner of Northland Music. "It's been busy. The cost was simply bringing in your old strings to recycle."
Northland Music was also accepting donations for both the Rhinelander Food Pantry and the Oneida County Humane Society.
"That community engagement is all connected," Roffers said.
The day also served as a customer appreciation day, with burgers and brats being grilled outside the store on the sunny Saturday afternoon.
Roffers said he'd like to turn the event into an annual affair and would like to thank everyone who came out to support the initiative.
"It was great to have everyone in here chatting, strumming, blowing on harmonicas. It was a good day for the store and the community," he said.
Northland Music is located at 16 S Brown St, Rhinelander, WI 54501. For more information, visit northlandmusiccenter.com.
