Nine youth actors got a taste of the world of drama over spring break through ArtStart's youth drama program. They created a set, learned lines and performed a show. In the March 29 performance, the children were in a classroom presenting various careers. In the scene pictured above the young actors are portraying astronauts obsessed with the stars. "Watching these young people engage their natural creativity, seeing their confidence grow as they get more comfortable on the stage, is amazing. They show a real bravery," director Traci Stinebrink said in a press release. "And all the laughter during the games is infectious! We focus on the fun, we play games, we learn a play, we craft sets and costumes. But in all of that these kids are strengthening their team building skills, growing empathy, strengthening their reading, comprehension and memorization skills. All skills that can be great assets out in the world."
