The YMCA of the Northwoods took part its first youth archery competition late last month in Cadott.

"The Y has had a progressive program for a couple of years but this was our first time sending kids to a competitive tournament," said Matt Steingraber, aquatics, youth and family director at the YMCA of the Northwoods.

The team had two shooters compete. Kale Hartzke shot a 247 and Ava Krouze shot a 237. The two are pictured together following the event.

"The tournament was a good learning experience for both of them," Steingraber said, noting a third member of the team did not compete due to illness.

The Y has a progressive team that practices one day a week and a competitive team that practices twice weekly. According to Steingraber, the Y is looking to enter a couple more tournaments in March or April.
