Quilt raffle to benefit Class of '78 scholarship fund
Jeanne Quarderer Stephens, a member of the Class of 1978, made the quilt as a tribute to her hometown.
Stephens moved away from Rhinelander after high school but has always kept the area close to her heart, she said in an interview.
"A Hodag quilt or two have been in my head for awhile, but after our class began giving an annual scholarship, I approached Tracey Barnes and asked her if she thought it would be a good idea to make one for a fundraiser," Stephens explained, adding that Barnes was enthusiastic about the idea.
It took Stephens, who has returned to live in the Rhinelander area, about 18 months to create the 59-by-65-inch quilt, which she named "Come Back to the Woods."
Ticket prices are $20 each, three for $50, or 10 for $100. All proceeds will go to the RHSâClass of 1978 Scholarship.
The winner of the quilt will be announced at 9 p.m. July 28 at the Flying Finn Pub and Resort.
The winner does not need to be present to win.
